Target #2: Build-A-Bearville

Sorry for making another post about kid's stuff but this one is a DOOZY.

Who, or what, is build-a-bear? That's what I asked myself. Actually, I asked Wikipedia. According to them,

Build-A-Bear Workshop (NYSE: BBW) is an American retailer that sells customizable teddy bears and other stuffed animals. It is the largest create-your-own animal service, with the other companies in the business consisting of regional and/or locally-owned operations.

Okay, cool, so they make toys, and have a website full of fun flash media for children. Hmm, their name sounds like Bilderberg. They actually paid to have www.buildabearville.com created, and it's kind of like Habbo Hotel blended with some MMORPG elements. It's "kid safe", whatever that means. Most importantly though, they made available some awesome "webisodes" featuring cute, CGI animal characters in the north pole and Santa Claus. Santa has a problem he doesn't even know about yet - The north pole is going to melt in 48 hours because of global warming. This post however is for the videos - which by the way have been removed from the website already. Here's a quote from that link:

Letter from Maxine Clark regarding online webisodes, posted December 22, 2009

Dear Associates, Guests and Partners,

We have received inquiries regarding our online
webisodes and would like to provide you with the following information.

Our goal is to entertain and engage the imagination of children with our stuffed animals, our store environment, and online. Our intention with the Polar Bear story was to inspire children, through the voices of our animal characters, to make a difference in their own individual ways. We did not intend to politicize the topic of global climate change or offend anyone in any way. The
webisodes concluded this week with Santa successfully leaving on his journey to deliver gifts around the world.
The webisodes will no longer be available on the site.

So, maybe this was a person genuinely investing money in a little side project of their successful company, who had been misled by the global warming scam that is currently a major media push. Maybe it was genuinely an attempt to brainwash children as we know much of the corporate media does, and when they were called on how positively blatant their views were, they withdrew them. In the apology letter linked and quoted above, the founder of Build-A-Bear goes on to say that she and her company will 'consider more points of view' in the future.

All of that backstory was important. Please watch the videos now - Remember, all the want to do is "inspire the children" to "make a difference". They had absolutely no political agenda whatsoever. I will review each piece.

p1:

Remember, they didn't mean to politicize the topic of global warming. The first line of dialogue is "It is a global world now. Our focus is no longer merely on ourselves". Then they present this school project the penguins are doing over the break? Interestingly, this video was published about when kids would have been getting out on school break. The first "under the radar" suggestion they try to feed to the audience is about polar bears. When confronted with a question about them, the teacher stares dumbfounded, and another student describes them to be akin to the boogeyman. They then make us feel bad about how we haven't been spending our time thinking about global warming. How inspiring! Now go back and try to pause the video at 3:49, where we see our little penguin friend has a cool picture of the north pole with some red boxes. I wonder what that means.

p2:

Gee, Santa. I sure hope nothing happens to make Christmas be cancelled. Uh-oh, it's the Christmas alarm. Holy crap, Polar bears! And a mountain disappeared? What's going on? Oh, of course, these bears are working on a school project with that penguin about global warming, and it sucks to be Santa because the north pole is going to melt in two days.

p3:

What I noticed about this video first was that all of the characters are more articulate and speak a lot more quickly. Well, Santa wants to know how this happened, so the bears and penguin blurt out a long stream about how the North pole is melting, and the world is a few degrees warmer compared to five years ago . Well, why did the world get so warm? Well, it's because we need electricity to power our lights, and we burn fossil fuels to make that electricity, and those fuels release nasty gases! Even the elf looks upset about that one. But nobody knows! So we're gonna tell EVERYBODY about this. Oh yeah, and by the way Santa, can I hang out in your climate research laboratory?

Unfortunately, that's all the video I have although obviously it's not the last one, there are seven in total. Although the story isn't concluded, I'm sure you all can see how unpolitical and unbiased the Build-A-Bear company is, and I'm sure you're feeling very inspired to do something about Climate Change.
